Your snow tire chains are only as strong as their tensioners.

Harness The Kranken in Under 30 Seconds

For decades, rubber bungees have been the go-to option, but they fall short—losing tension over time and requiring size-specific fits that compromise performance.

Kranken eliminates those worries with lasting, reliable tension that never fades, and a one-size solution built to fit most tires.

Your step-by-step guide to all-season safety and how to achieve that in seconds.

Quick Maintenance Tips

A quick checklist on how to keep The Kranken working properly.

Clean After Every Use

Wipe down the extended cables with a warm, damp cloth to remove salt, dirt, and grime. This prevents corrosion and keeps the system running smoothly.

Dry Thoroughly

Always dry the cables and components with a clean towel before storage to avoid moisture buildup and rust.

Inspect for Wear and TEAR

Regularly check the stainless steel clips and cables for signs of fraying or damage.

Store in the Kranken Pouch

Use the provided storage pouch to keep your tensioner protected from harsh environments when not in use.

If the cables won’t fully extend

Ensure the center gear is fully unlocked by turning it completely to the left before pulling the cables.

If you can’t achieve full tension

Check that all six clips are evenly spaced and securely attached to the crosslink junctions. Uneven placement can prevent full tensioning.

If chains are still slipping

Verify that the chains are the proper size for your tires, per manufacturer recommendations. Then ensure the Kranken is fully tightened, twisting the handle until the cables are taut and springs are stretched.

If clips are difficult to attach

Make sure you are attaching the clips before applying any tension. Kranken is specifically designed for tension - free attachment - tightening comes last.
